The engine’s sitting in there. It’s got a proper oil pan, some fleabay shorty headers and a Sloppy Stage 2 cam. I had to heat and bash the frame rail a bit to make the AC compressor fit, but so far everything seems to be going together a bit *too* easily. I mocked up a crossmember for the 4L80E... Even that behemoth looks like it’s going to for without much fuss.

I haven’t done the exact math in a while, but I honestly have roughly $1,200 into this build so far.

Y ou’re doing god’ s work.

And by that I mean you’re more or less building my dream car when I was 15. I really wanted an S-10 pickup or Blazer with a V8 swap.

Re. it going together almost too easily, I’m actually not too surprised. One of thing things I love about GM is that they are like legos. Remember, the original B lazer engine was just a 350 with 2 cylinder lopped of. And now you’re swapping in the “ son of 350" , which shares the same bore spacing and transmission bellhousing pattern, and very similar external dimensions and motor mounting points . Not to mention the Blazer transmission (4L60E) and your new transmission (4L80E) were both used in a lot of the same vehicles (i.e. full size trucks could have either depending on powertrain options). People like to give GM shit for things like crappy interiors, but they know how to make every cent count when it comes to engineering powertrains.

Also, don’t worry , you’ll run into some BS problem with wiring, fuel delivery, etc. eventually.  Good luck!

I sorry of abandoned it in my work parking lot back in March when I was getting my old house ready to sell and finally dragged it to the new place about 6 weeks ago, so it's kinda like I even forgot I had it for a while.

The exhaust routing and accessory drive are the biggest challenges with the LS swap in this platform. So far I haven't run into anything major. A lot of the S10 LS guys have big fitment issues, but so far I'm doing well. I plan to run this trillion-mile Pick-N-Pull 5.3 until it explodes, then find an LQ4 to get silly with.
